More than 45 women attended the Annual Kamp KCAHCE (Kenosha County Association of Home and Community Education) Pic-In-Nic, held at The Birchwood Grill Cabin.
Miss Wisconsin Willow Newell entertained the group with songs and talked about her experiences as the former Miss Kenosha and Miss Racine to now representing the entire state at the Aug. 7th event.
The organization awarded two $1,000 scholarships to Kaelie Billingsley and Ethan Weinstein.
“We had a wonderful time gathering together, honoring our scholarship winners and learning about Miss Wisconsin Willow Newell,” said Donna Zarovy, president of KCAHCE, and event co-chair with Jerin Moore.
KCAHCE is a service-learning organization, founded in 1951. It was formerly known as Extension Homemakers, and it is one of 45 organizations in the state that is affiliated with the Wisconsin Association for Home and Community Education. There are 6 clubs that meet across Kenosha County and engage in various learning experiences during the year. Currently, the organization has a county-wide community service project that members are participating in. Members who can knit, crochet and quilt are making lap blankets for the Hospice Alliance and the Hospice Alliance Foundation in Pleasant Prairie.
