National Night Out is an annual community-building event that takes place nationwide on the
first Tuesday in August. The goal is to enhance relationships between neighbors and law
enforcement, and to make neighborhoods safer and more caring places to live.
“National Night Out is a time for neighbors to come together, meet one another, and learn about
resources that are available in the community,” Kerkman said. “Thank you to all of the
community partners who have come together to organize these events.”
Kenosha County’s gang intervention program is coordinating the festivities at Curtis Strange
Elementary School, the City of Kenosha is organizing the Dream Playground event, and the
Pleasant Prairie Police and Fire & Rescue departments are hosting the Prairie Springs Park
location. The other events are being sponsored by their respective organizations. Activities and
organizations present will vary by location.
