RACINE, WI — The Racine Concert Band’s 103rd season of free summer concerts continues Sunday, July 20 at 7:00 p.m. on the patio at Rotary Park, outside Festival Hall (5 5th Street, Racine).
The Band’s 1,533rd concert will spotlight two remarkable soloists:
• Jeanie Hatfield, a Racine favorite, returns to the stage. A lifelong supporter of the arts, Jeanie was Miss Racine 1986 and Miss Wisconsin 1988, later serving 15 years as a Miss Wisconsin Field Director. She toured the Far East on a 10-week USO tour in 1989, performing for U.S. troops, and has been a beloved Racine kindergarten teacher for 30 years. Today, she owns The Trophy Shop on Washington Avenue and has sung with the Racine Concert Band since 1986.
• Jacob Wolf, clarinetist, recently earned his Master’s of Music in Clarinet from Indiana University’s prestigious Jacobs School of Music. A dynamic orchestral performer, Jacob has appeared with professional ensembles in Kenosha, Toledo, Dayton, Evansville, and Columbus. He is also an accomplished soloist and educator and will return to Indiana University this fall as a graduate instructor and performance diploma candidate.
Under the direction of Mark Eichner (now in his 24th season), the program will feature a rich selection of music spanning over four centuries—from classical to jazz and big band favorites. The evening will conclude with John Philip Sousa’s iconic “Washington Post March.”
Don Rosen, veteran broadcaster from WRJN with over 50 years in radio, will serve as Master of Ceremonies.
Admission is free. Lawn chairs or blankets are encouraged as there is no fixed seating. Free and affordable parking is available nearby. In case of rain, the concert will move indoors to Festival Hall. Concessions will be available on-site.
All Racine Concert Band summer performances begin at 7:00 p.m. at Rotary Park.
