Citizens To Build Community Through Authentic Conversations on March 29Dozens of residents will gather for connection, conversation, and food on March 29 from 11 am to 2 pm at the Civil War Museum. The Building Community Through Authentic Conversations event is organized by a team of Kenosha and Racine community members who have partnered with Kenosha Human Development Services to implement the Strengthening Relationships Across Cultural Differences project. The community members were selected last year to participate as Wisconsin Uniters in Urban Rural Action’s Uniting to Prevent Targeted Violence (UPTV) in Southeast Wisconsin program. The event is free and open to the public, and lunch will be provided. Attendees will learn the ABCs of Constructive Conversation, engage in one-on-one conversations on what makes communities strong, and pose for a Portrait of Strength taken by A Peace of My Mind that will be featured in a community exhibit. The event is funded by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Center for Prevention Programs and Partnerships under the Targeted Violence and Terrorism Prevention (TVTP) Grant Program for Fiscal Year 2023. TVTP works to help prevent incidents of domestic violent extremism, as well as to bolster efforts to counter online radicalization and mobilization to violence. Wisconsin residents can register for the event here.
