When the sun goes down and the trails of Hawthorn Hollow disappear into the darkness, a
different side of the sanctuary comes to life. This Halloween season, visitors are invited to
explore the mysterious side of nature during Spooky Hollow, Hawthorn Hollow’s annual
celebration of Halloween folklore and storytelling.
Spooky Hollow returns Friday and Saturday, October 23 and 24, from 6–9 p.m., offering two
evenings of spooky, atmospheric fun for families and adults ali
ke.
Guests can embark on a self-guided journey through the Hollow after dark, stopping along the
way to hear all-new bone-chilling tales, encounter mysterious creatures and supernatural props
on the trails, and create a festive Halloween craft. Additional attractions include an authentic
Tintype photographer, the Sinister Silent Cinema, face painting, live music and a variety of
spooky selfie spots where guests can capture their Halloween memories.
From mysterious stories and shadowy trails to supernatural sights and old-fashioned Halloween
traditions, Spooky Hollow invites visitors to experience Hawthorn Hollow in an entirely
different way. The event combines storytelling, folklore, creativity, and the natural world to
create a memorable Halloween experience for visitors of all ages.
Visitors are free to explore the available stories, activities, and trails at their own pace during
their scheduled session. Only select Hawthorn Hollow trails will be open for the event, and
guests will receive a map highlighting accessible areas and featured experiences.
As an outdoor event, guests should dress appropriately for the weather and be prepared for
uneven terrain. Trails may be uphill, narrow, slippery, or rough, and there is minimal shelter
available. Flashlights are encouraged.
Food and beverages, including alcohol, will be available for purchase.
