The Racine Concert Band’s 103rd season of free concerts continues Sunday July 13th at Festival Hall, 5 5th Street, at 7:00 pm.
The 1532nd free concert of the official band of the City of Racine features vocalist Melissa Cardamone, and percussionist Aubrey Marquez on xylophone.
A graduate of Lawrence University and the Eastman School of Music, Melissa Cardamone is a coach and accompanist at Carthage College. Mozart’s cheerful overture to “The Shepherd King” opens the concert. Clifton Williams’ “Border Festival” and “La Bamba de la Vera Cruz” by Terig Tucci add a Latin-American flavor to the concert. Marches by John Philip Sousa, Meredith Willson, Arthur Bird, and George Kenny complete the program.
Music Director Mark Eichner, in his 24th season, conducts the band. Don Rosen, WRJN radio broadcaster with over 50 years of professional experience, is Master of Ceremonies.
