2027 Kenosha County Budget Released

From adding dedicated detectives to fight internet crimes against children to advancing major improvements along Highway K and the Kemper Center shoreline, Kenosha County’s 2027 budget proposal delivers targeted investments across the community while maintaining strict fiscal discipline.

 

2027 Budget Highlights

Financial Stewardship

Continues support for essential services, employees, infrastructure, economic

development, and the County’s overall financial condition.

Positions Kenosha County to maintain its AAA bond rating and protects

taxpayers through lower borrowing costs, with nearly $1.4 million saved to date.

Keeps the levy increase below 3 percent and below both the rate of inflation and

the percent change in equalized value.

Limits the increase for the owner of a median-value home to $13.48 in county

property taxes in 2027.

Transportation Infrastructure

Continues commitment to county highway pavement program.

Advances future improvements to Highway K, including planned widening

from 94th Court to 128th Avenue.

Provides engineering and future construction planning to protect Highway W

from Fox River erosion and flooding.

Facilities and Capital Projects

Funds completion of the Kemper Center shoreline restoration project.

Supports renovations at the Kenosha County Center, to provide a true west-end

outpost for the Sheriff’s Office, and a fully capable backup space for the

Emergency Operations Center. In addition, the public will enjoy the benefits of

an improved Hearing Room, home to many community events.

Supports the opening of the new Human Services Building in early 2027.

Public Safety and Oversight

Funds two new Sheriff’s Office detective positions dedicated to investigating

internet crimes against children.

Begins a new Axon contract to keep deputies’ body-camera equipment current.

Adds a Compliance Supervisor in Aging and Disability Services to strengthen

contract compliance and service quality.

Adds a Recreation Coordinator position to expand parks programming, events,

and community engagement while supporting grant development.
