Explore Downtown Racine with Giant Postcard scavenger hunt, then take your favorites home

The outdoor gallery is set with Downtown Racine Corporation’s 25th annual public art project featuring 25 giant “Greetings from Racine” postcards.

See Racine through the eyes of artists who have created artwork depicting their favorite Racine attractions. To get the most out of the experience of finding all the pieces displayed throughout downtown, pick up a scavenger hunt flyer at the DRC office, 425 Main St. or download it from racinedowntown.com.

The flyer will guide you to the various locations and ask you fun questions about each piece. Answer at least 15 questions, return the form to the DRC office and you’ll receive a free postcard, along with a chance to win one of the giant “Greetings from Racine” postcards.

Once you discover your favorite designs, take them home with you by purchasing one, five or all 25 printed collectible postcards – ready to mail to friends and family or as a keepsake.

Postcards are available at: Lakeview Pharmacy (516 Monument Sq), Anchors Away Ship Store (next to Marina, 2 Christopher Columbus Cswy), Dimple’s Imports (416 Main St.) DRC Office/Downtown Visitors Center (425 Main Street) for $2 each or 5 for $5. Stop in and start your collection today!

From June through mid-September, the larger-than-life postcard installations will be displayed throughout downtown, celebrating Racine’s landmarks, culture, creativity, and community spirit while adding colorful public art to the downtown streetscape.

“For 25 years, our annual public art project has encouraged people to slow down, explore Downtown Racine, and see our community through a new perspective. This year’s ‘Greetings from Racine’ postcards celebrate the places that make our city special while supporting local artists, businesses, and the vibrant spirit of downtown. “ stated Kelly Kruse, executive director of the Downtown Racine Corporation.

Watch for details about the auction for this year’s collection, scheduled for September.  In the meantime, get out and explore Downtown Racine while enjoying this exceptional art show on the sidewalks of our hometown.
