Kenosha County Board Chairman Mark Nordigian tonight presented his
committee appointments for the new board term, which will continue until
April 2028.
Along with the committee rosters, Nordigian announced a slightly revised
committee structure, in which five supervisors will serve on each of the
board’s standing committees, excluding the Finance and Administration
Committee and the Executive Committee.
During recent board terms, most or all committees have comprised seven
members. This will remain the case for the Finance and Administration
Committee, which is required by board rules to carry seven members, and
the Executive Committee, which includes the board chair and vice chair
and all of the standing committee chairs.
In reducing the number of supervisors on other committees to five,
Nordigian cited several factors, including greater efficiency and speed,
clearer accountability, lower administrative costs, and the potential for
smaller groups to develop stronger cohesion.
“I worked diligently over the last week in developing the committees,”
Nordigian said. “Of the supervisors I was able to connect with, I heard
them and worked to make committees that I thought would be cohesive,
respectful, and diligent.”
Nordigian was elected by his colleagues to serve as Chairman during the
board’s organizational meeting last week. Supervisor John Franco was
elected Vice Chairman.
“I’m committed to working collaboratively, listening thoughtfully, andmaking decisions that reflect the best interests of our residents,” Nordigian said during Tuesday
evening’s board meeting. “Together, we have an opportunity to build on our strengths and
address the challenges ahead with integrity and purpose. I am looking forward to the work we
will accomplish together.”
