Hawthorn Hollow will start accepting plant donations this Friday April 24 for their upcoming Birds & Plants
fundraising event on Saturday, May 9th. Donations will be sold at the event to raise funds to help support
Hawthorn Hollow’s mission of education & preservation.
Starting on Friday, April 24th, plant donations can be dropped off in front of the Hyslop Nature Center.
Hawthorn Hollow is seeking donations of non-invasive natives and ornamental plants, house plants,
grasses, herbs, vegetables, and other non-invasive plants. Please make sure all donations are potted and
labeled with common name and basic growing instructions (sun/shade, etc.) Plant donations can be
dropped off at the table in front of the nature center. Please make sure to sign the donation book so we
know who to thank!
Birds & Plants is a fundraiser taking place at Hawthorn Hollow on Saturday, May 9th. Formerly known as
Birds & Breakfast, the event will feature a wide-ranging native and ornamental plant sale. Expert
gardeners will be on-hand to assist with purchases and share their extensive gardening knowledge, as well
as signing up new Friends of Hawthorn Hollow members.
The Hoy Audubon Society will host two guided bird walks, at 9 and 10 am, while Naturalist Nicole Zeisler
will host a nature hike at 11 am. The Two Sisters Boutique will be open, selling handmade & locally crafted
items just in time for Mother’s Day, as well as Hawthorn Hollow’s own Maple Syrup. There will also be a
bake sale, which we will be accepting donations of baked goods starting on Thursday May 7.
