Residents encouraged to complete survey by November 24
The Village of Somers is evaluating several funding options to address the
need to increase public safety staffing to better support its residents, as demand for emergency
services continues to grow. To help identify priority areas of investment and potential funding
sources, residents are invited to share their feedback through a village-wide survey.
“Somers has always held itself to a high standard when it comes to the quality of our emergency
services, and the safety of our residents will continue to be a top priority,
” said Ben Andersen,
Fire Chief, Somers Fire & Rescue Department.
“Feedback from our residents will play a key role
in determining future decisions about services to prioritize and how to fund those services
responsibly.
”
In September 2025, the Village released a report identifying a need to bolster public safety
staffing to address increasing demand for emergency services and a growing need for proactive
policing to support a safe and healthy Village. The report also outlines potential funding options
for consideration, including a potential referendum to increase property taxes. The report is
available on the Village’s website.
All households in the village will receive one copy of the survey by mail. The survey can be
completed online or returned by mail through Monday, November 24, 2025:
