Lake Fest is August 24 on Simmons Island

All are invited for a lakefront party at the Kenosha Beach House on Simmons Island. It’s free to attend Lake Fest, which will take place on August 24 from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. The 1934 Tudor Revival building is located at 5001 Simmons Island Road next to Lake Michigan.

 

Fun activities and live entertainment are scheduled throughout the day and evening. There will be performances by musicians, dancers, and gymnasts; a Water Blaster Battle; a Sandcastle Building Competition; beach art activities with Lemon Street Gallery & ArtSpace; big bubble fun with Beyond Bubbly; firepits with s’mores and a beach bonfire; concessions and beverages in the beer garden; food vendors; and more.

 

The beach house will be open with its gift shop and convenience store. On-site rentals will be available, including bikes and beach games.

 

A Classic Car Show hosted by Great Lakes Yacht Sales, 443 50th Street, on Simmons Island will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

 

A Venetian Night Boat Parade will start at 8:15 p.m. From the Simmons Island Beach or along the harbor, watch beautifully decorated boats.

 

 

 

The live entertainment on the beach includes:

 

12 p.m.: Step-by-Step Dancers

 

1 p.m.: Donna’s Gym-nastics

 

2 p.m.: Kenye of Kenosha

 

3 p.m.: Plaisted & Stokes

 

5:30 p.m.: Spirit Shakers

 

8:30 p.m.: 80s Glow Party with Midwest DJ Productions

 

 

 

The beach activities schedule includes:

 

11 a.m. to 2 p.m.: Sandcastle Building Contest registration

 

1 p.m. to 3 p.m.: Sandcastle Building

 

1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.: Beyond Bubbly Bubble Fun Booth

 

3 p.m.: Sandcastle Building Contest judging/prizes awarded by Lemon Street Gallery & ArtSpace

 

3:30 p.m.: Water Blaster Battle (ages 7 and under)

 

4:30 p.m.: Water Blaster Battle (ages 8-14)

 

5:30 p.m.: Water Blaster Battle (ages 15-adult)

 

6:30 p.m.: Firepits & S’mores

 

8 p.m.: Beach Bonfire

 

8:15 pm: Boat parade

 

 

 

Organizers recommend parking at the south end of Kennedy Park, 4051 Fifth Avenue (Washington Road access); there will be a free pedal bike shuttle provided by Lakeshore Pedal Tours. The Lakefront Trolley will have extended hours to 11 p.m.

 

This event is a fundraising event for the Kenosha Community Sailing Center, an organization dedicated to teaching sailing, water safety and promoting water conservation and access to Lake Michigan.
