A free workshop will address the topic of hospice, palliative care, and advance directives at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, June 6th in the Hearing Room of the Kenosha County Center, 19600 75th St., Bristol.
Rita Hagen, executive director of Hospice Alliance, will be the speaker. Hospice Alliance is a community owned not-for-profit leader in hospice and palliative care, serving Kenosha, Racine, and Walworth counties since 1981. She will lead a thoughtful conversation about the things to consider when living with a serious/chronic illness or facing end-of-life and looking for comfort and symptom relief. She will also discuss the importance of advance directives to make sure your wishes are known to family and friends.
“Talking about end-of-life does not make it happen or speed it up, it ensures that patients’ values and goals of care are respected and met.” Hagen said. “Most of the time, these discussions are delayed until the last phases of a patients’ life, which leads to decreased quality of life and your wishes not being met.”
