In a significant step towards promoting sustainable mobility and green living, downtown Racine is proud to announce the launch of the inaugural “Green Racine EVent.” Hosted at the brand-new LEED-certified Hotel Verdant, this pioneering event is scheduled to take place on Saturday, August 10, 2024, from Noon to 5 PM, promising to transform the heart of the city into a vibrant hub of eco-innovation and community engagement.
The Green Racine EVent is designed to celebrate the advancements in electric vehicles (EVs), eco-friendly technologies, and sustainable lifestyle choices. Highlights of the event include:
• EV and E-Bike Showcase: An extensive display of the latest in electric mobility, including electric buses, Tesla models, and offerings from major manufacturers like Ford, Toyota, Hyundai, VW, Chevy, and Indian Motorcycle, at Monument Square.
• Green Trade Show: A platform for local green programs and businesses to showcase their eco-friendly products and services, encouraging attendees to adopt a more sustainable lifestyle.
• Sustainability Tours: Exclusive tours of the LEED-certified Hotel Verdant, anticipated to achieve LEED Gold Status, at 1 PM and 3 PM.
• Free EV Charging: To facilitate participation, 10 free charging stations will be available near Hotel Verdant for the duration of the event.
• Community Activities: A week of engaging community-centric activities leading up to the event, including clean-up days and a zero waste community challenge, aimed at fostering a sustainable and vibrant Racine.
