Kenosha – based visual artist Dale Mellor, aka Artistdale, presents the world’s

only site-specific art installation on a working lighthouse – for the second time !

Working with steel wire, canvas and decorative embellishments, community

volunteers and the lake Michigan breezes, Artistdale will construct a temporary

art-installation on the exterior of Kenosha’s North Pier Lighthouse.

Entitled Whispering into Chaos – A Monument to Hope, the work seeks to create the

feeling of chaos and confusion infused with whispered assurances of peace,

encouragement and hope.

Artistdale created the first unique lighthouse art installation, New Beginnings, in

2019. Consisting of 16 giant daisies hoisted aloft by volunteers from the local

community, the floral arrangement incorporated remembrances dedicated to community

members lost tragically to Lake Michigan and gun violence.

Visitors to the Lighthouse will be able to watch the work in progress and enjoy

the finished art throughout Artistdale’s Kenosha Lighthouse Studio residency June 15 –

21 – with Lake Michigan weather permitting.

Artistale comments, “ we are so accustomed to the sight of the lighthouse that

we rarely stop to look more closely at its beauty. As Kenosha Lighthouse Studio’s first

Artist-In-Residence of the 2026 season I will give you reason to stop and look.”
