Courageous Conversation to Explore Reentry After Incarceration

“Breaking Barriers and Building Lives” — October 16 at the Kenosha Civil War Museum

The Kenosha Coalition for Dismantling Racism (CFDR) will host its next Courageous Conversation, titled “Breaking Barriers and Building Lives,” on Thursday, October 16, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Kenosha Civil War Museum, 5400 First Avenue.

The evening will begin with a brief annual report from CFDR leadership, followed by a panel discussion featuring Sharmain Harris, Carl Fields, and Hope Wesley—three formerly incarcerated individuals who will share their personal stories of reentry, resilience, and transformation.

“With this Courageous Conversation we want to educate, enlighten, and raise community awareness about the many challenges faced by those who have been incarcerated as they try to reintegrate into the community,” said

Adelene Greene

, CFDR member. “We also want to give hope and share resources available to those seeking a second chance.”

As part of the program, CFDR will distribute a limited number of copies of Rising Above the Odds, a memoir by panelist Sharmain Harris that chronicles his journey from incarceration to empowerment.

This event is free and open to the public. Community members, advocates, and allies are encouraged to attend and participate in this meaningful conversation.
