Starting on September 22, the kites will be available for online auction, with opening bids beginning at just $100. The auction will close at 11:59 pm on September 30th, so don’t miss your chance to take home one of these remarkable creations. Proceeds from the auction will support the Downtown Racine Corporation, whose mission is to keep the heart of Racine thriving through business development, cultural programming, and community events that continue to make our downtown a destination for all.

The kites were hand-crafted by welding students from Gateway Technical College under the guidance of Professor Kyle Worzala. This partnership adds a special touch to the project, infusing it with local talent and pride.
“We’re proud to provide our students with opportunities to apply their skills in real-world projects while giving back to the community,” said Professor Worzala. “This experience fosters professionalism and pride, which will benefit them in their careers.
