In just 24 hours, a brave cast and crew will cast, rehearse, costume, build, and perform a full-length mystery musical at the Rhode Center for the Arts. No one – not even the performers – will know the show title until the clock starts ticking. From there, it’s a mad dash of fast-paced creativity, teamwork, and pure adrenaline – all leading to one incredible, one-night-only performance.
“24 Hour Musical” is a fundraiser to replace the leaking roof on the historic building, which was built in 1927. Formed in 1973, Lakeside Players Inc. is a non-profit community theatre group that has occupied the building since 1988.
In recent years, the organization has faced its biggest and most expensive challenge – replacing the roof. Now, a group of volunteers has stepped up to raise money to save their building with an artistic flare.
This mystery musical will be produced in 24 hours – from the lights and costumes to choreography and music. This chaotic theater experience is meant to be fun, challenging, silly, and even slightly terrifying! Audiences will be blown away by the amount of work that can be done in 24 hours – while laughing alongside with the cast when they inevitably forget their lines and choreography.
The public is invited to the performance on July 19 at 7:30 p.m. Admission is $15. It’s recommended for ages 16+ as the show contains some adult language.
Preparation starts the previous evening. The Lakeside Players Facebook page will be documenting the full process in their livestream beginning at 7 p.m. on July 18.
Additionally, you can make the cast do silly challenges! With each donation to the 24 Hour Musical, you get closer to unlocking fun challenges for the cast like chugging hot sauce before a solo or taking away their scripts.
Don’t want to wait until the timer starts to learn the musical? There’s a scavenger hunt going on in Downtown Kenosha! To unlock access to https://24hourmusical.my.canva.site find the letters and unscramble the words at various places.
