Kenosha County Bike-to-Work Weeks are May 31-June 14

Kenosha County and the City of Kenosha’s annual Bike-to-Work Weeks begin this Saturday,

May 31, continuing through Saturday, June 14, County Executive Samantha Kerkman and

Mayor David Bogdala announced today.

During Bike-to-Work Weeks, people are encouraged to commute by bicycle, experiencing the

roads and trails of Kenosha County from the seat of a bike.

It’s also a time for bicyclists and motorists to bone up on bike safety — and to remember to take

precautions to ride and drive safely year-round, Kerkman said.

“With summer just around the corner, more bicyclists and pedestrians will be out and about

throughout our county, and it’s important for everyone to follow the rules of the road and to pay

attention while driving or biking,” Kerkman said.

The mayor shared similar sentiments.

“Exploring Kenosha by bike is one of the best ways to enjoy our city, whether you’re commuting

or just riding for fun,” Bogdala said.

“With more cyclists on our roads and trails, it’s essential

that everyone stays alert and shares the road safely.”

People who ride a bicycle to work during the May 31-June 14 period are encouraged to enter the

Bike-to-Work-Weeks Contest. Riders may submit one entry for each day that they bike to

work.

Entries may be submitted online at http://www.kenoshacounty.org/bikecontest. Winners will be

drawn at random. Prizes include bicycle-themed clothing, bike equipment, passes to local

attractions, and more.

Bike-to-Work Weeks will conclude Saturday, June 14 with the county’s annual Dairy Air Bike

Ride.

This is a free, organized ride from the Kenosha County Veterans Memorial Park, 8530 352nd

Ave., to the Kenosha County Dairy Breakfast, to be held this year at the Mighty Grand Dairy

Farm, 22811 18th St. in Brighton.

The group ride will begin at 7 a.m., with a Kenosha County Sheriff’s Office squad following the

back of the pack for safety purposes. Riders will then regroup at 9 a.m. to return to the park. The

ride is 28.2 miles round trip.

For those who ride or drive there, the Dairy Breakfast will be held from 6:30 to 10:30 a.m. on

June 14. Breakfast tickets are $10 (free for kids under 6) and are available at the event while

supplies last.

Bike-to-Work Weeks are supported by the county executive and mayor, the Kenosha County

Board, the Kenosha City Council, the Kenosha Bicycle Ambassadors and the Kenosha County

Active Communities Committee, with support from additional sponsors.
