Hawthorn Hollow will start accepting plant donations this Friday May 2 for their upcoming Birds & Plants
fundraising event on Saturday, May 10th. Donations will be sold at the event to raise funds to help support
Hawthorn Hollow’s mission of education & preservation.
Starting on Friday, May 2nd, plant donations can be dropped off in front of the Hyslop Nature Center.
Hawthorn Hollow is seeking donations of non-invasive natives and ornamental plants, house plants,
grasses, herbs, vegetables, and other. Please make sure all donations are potted and labeled with common
name and basic growing instructions (sun/shade, etc.) Plant donations can be dropped off at the table in
front of the nature center. Please make sure to sign the donation book so we know who to thank!
Birds & Plants is a fundraiser taking place at Hawthorn Hollow on Saturday, May 10th. Formerly known
as Birds & Breakfast, the event will feature a wide-ranging native and ornamental plant sale. Expert
gardeners will be on-hand to assist with purchases and share their extensive gardening knowledge, as well
as signing up new Friends of Hawthorn Hollow members. The Hoy Audubon Society will host two guided
bird walks, at 9 and 10 am, while Ecologist Emily Porter will host a nature hike at 11 am.. The Two Sisters
Boutique will be open, selling handmade & locally crafted items just in time for Mother’s Day. There will
also be a bake sale, which we will be accepting donations of baked goods starting on Thursday May 8.
Birds and Plants will take place on Saturday, May 10th from 9 am to noon at Hawthorn Hollow’s Hyslop
Nature Center. Guided bird walks start at 9 and 10 am, and a nature hike will be at 11 am.. Admission is
free, but donations are gratefully accepted.
