Kerman and Yuhas issue Joint Statement on Adoption of 2025 Kenosha County Budget

Kenosha County Executive Samantha Kerkman and County Board Chairman Monica M. Yuhas have issued statements celebrating the County Board’s approval of the 2025 budget during Thursday night’s session.

County Executive Samantha Kerkman remarked, “This budget continues our commitment to responsible financial management, which has maintained Kenosha County’s AAA bond rating. Importantly, it achieves this while lowering taxes for the median-value homeowner. I commend the County Board for its thorough review and input on the budget, and I am eager to continue our productive collaboration into 2025 and beyond.”

County Board Chairman Monica M. Yuhas stated, “Tonight’s approval reflects our dedication to delivering critical services while minimizing the tax burden on our residents. Crafting this budget required us to prioritize essential community needs, particularly in areas like public safety, human services, and infrastructure—key components that enhance our residents’ quality of life.”

Key Budget Highlights:

 • Property Tax Reduction: For the fourth consecutive year, the county property tax will decrease for median-value homeowners, with a reduction of $2.83 compared to the previous year.

 • Public Safety Investments: The budget includes the addition of a social worker embedded within the Sheriff’s Department to assist during behavioral health crisis calls, strengthening community support.

 • Infrastructure and Restoration Projects: Major projects funded in this budget include the restoration of the historic Ceremonial Courtroom, bolstered by over $2 million in private donations, and planning for future expansions of Highway K and safety enhancements along Highway W.
