This fall’s National Drug Take Back Day event will expand to include five Kenosha County sites
on Saturday, Oct. 26, County Executive Samantha Kerkman announced today.
The events will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at these sites:
• Wisconsin Probation & Parole Office, 1212 60th St., Kenosha
• New Pleasant Prairie Police Station, 10111 39th Ave., Pleasant Prairie
• Somers Fire & Rescue, 7511 12th St., Somers
• The Kenosha County Center at Highways 45 and 50 in Bristol (enter off Highway 50 on
the southeast side of the building
• Twin Lakes Police Department, 920 Lance Dr., Twin Lakes
While the event goal is to provide safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposal of
prescription medications, Kenosha County Behavioral Health staff will also provide information
about resources and services available in the community.
“Drug Take Back Day is a convenient way to make your home safer by disposing of unneeded
medications, and it’s also a good time to learn about the help that is available,” Kerkman said.
“There are many resources for people struggling with substance use, and Narcan is a tool that
anyone can use to save a life.”
Visitors to the Drug Take Back Day sites will have the opportunity to receive Narcan training
and a free box of Narcan (no training available at Twin Lakes) as well as Fentanyl and Xylazine
test strips, while safely disposing of their unneeded medications.
Narcan is a medication that rapidly reverses an opioid overdose. Narcan training teaches people
to recognize symptoms of an opioid overdose and how to administer the opioid overdose reversal
drug. More information about the Narcan distribution program in Kenosha County is available at

Items acceptable for collection at the local events include prescription (controlled and
noncontrolled) and over-the-counter medications, ointments, patches, inhalers, non-aerosol spray
dispensers, creams, vials, and pet medications.
Unacceptable items include illegal drugs, needles/sharps, acids, aerosol cans, biohazardous
materials (anything containing a bodily fluid or blood), personal care products, (shampoo, soaps,
lotions, sunscreens), household hazardous waste (paint, pesticides, oil, gas), and mercury
thermometers.
The Drug Take Back Day events are being held in partnership between the Kenosha County
Sheriff’s, Kenosha Police, Pleasant Prairie Police and Twin Lakes Police departments; Somers
Fire & Rescue; and the Kenosha County Division of Behavioral Health Services.
“At the Twin Lakes Police Department, we are committed to keeping our community safe, and
Drug Take Back Day is a vital part of that effort,” said Chief Katie Hall. “This event not only
helps prevent prescription drug misuse, but also protects our environment by ensuring
medications are disposed of properly. We encourage everyone to take advantage of this
opportunity to clean out their medicine cabinets and make a positive impact on our village.”
