Traditional Italian dancing, Italian music, an Italian cooking demonstration and more will be featured as part of the 2nd Annual Italian Heritage Celebration at Kenosha HarborMarket on Saturday, Oct. 12th.

Kenosha HarborMarket operates from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. along 2nd Avenue-Place de Douai and 56th Street, one block west of the Kenosha museums, through October 26th.

“This is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate Kenosha’s rich Italian roots,” said Lynda Ruffolo, of the HarborMarket Board of Directors, and coordinator of this special event. “We want to acknowledge and honor Kenosha’s Italian American families and businesses, as well as the many contributions Italian Americans have made to Kenosha. We had such a successful event last year that we decided to do it bigger and better this year.”

Also, all day, there will be a chance for the public to vote on the very serious and much debated topic: Is it GRAVY, or is it SAUCE?

“We took a vote last year on whether the correct term is gravy or sauce, but we think this ‘Stirred The Pot’ of lively debate that we should bring it back again,” Ruffolo said.

In addition to delicious food and entertainment, St. Joseph’s Italian Honor Society students under the direction of Monica Valent and Lynda Ruffolo, will have a display showcasing some of Kenosha’s Italian American businesses past and present at the celebration. The picture collage

promises to bring back memories of the good times.

“There will be more to see and do at this celebration,” Ruffolo said. “We invite all of Kenosha County’s residents and people in the region to come out to say ciao and have buon divertimento at the Kenosha HarborMarket’s 2nd Annual Italian American Heritage Celebration.”
