The Kenosha Public Library, Blue House Books, and Studio Moonfall are thrilled to announce the upcoming Southport Literary Festival, a celebration of literature, creativity, and community. This year’s festival will take place on Oct 5th from 11am to 5pm at the Southwest Neighborhood Library, 7979 38th Ave, in Kenosha.
The festival will feature a variety of events, including author readings, panel discussions, book signings, and workshops. One of the highlights of this year’s festival will be an appearance by best-selling author Brynne Weaver. Weaver is renowned for her captivating ‘Ruinous Love’ trilogy debut novel Butcher & Blackbird set to hit the big screen. Weaver’s acclaimed novel quickly climbed the bestseller lists of the New York Times, USA Today, and Publishers Weekly, capturing the hearts of readers and becoming a viral sensation on TikTok’s book-loving community, BookTok. Her recent seven-figure deal for a dark rom-com trilogy and over 1 million copies sold in 18 countries solidify her status as a literary powerhouse.
Director Chris McKay, known for his work on blockbuster films such as The Lego Batman Movie and The Tomorrow War, is at the helm of the film adaptation of Butcher & Blackbird. McKay’s involvement brings a level of excitement and anticipation to the project, as fans eagerly await the cinematic interpretation of Weaver’s beloved novel.
In addition to Weaver’s participation in panels and book signing, the festival will feature a fantastic lineup of talented authors of books for all ages, including Annelise Ryan (A Death in Door County and A Death in the Dark Woods), Nick Petrie (Peter Ash novels), and Greta Kelly (The Frozen Crown and The Queen of Days). Attendees will have the opportunity to meet and interact with these authors, learn about their writing process, and gain insights into the literary world.
“This is our second year organizing the Southport Literary Fair with Kenosha Public Library, and I was so excited to add Studio Moonfall to our organizers this year as well!” said Samantha Jacquest, owner of Blue House Books. “This is a fantastic event that allows book lovers to meet their favorite authors, promotes literacy in our community, and allows us to thank Blue House Books and Studio Moonfall customers and library patrons for all they do to support their local bookstores and library. This event is for the readers, and we’re so excited that it’s growing!”
Readers will also have more than just the books and authors to look forward to! We are also excited to have The Lettering Machine offering print-on-demand bookish gear at their Apparel Bar, Josie Rodriquez of The Drawing Room offering special pricing on caricatures, food trucks, and so much more!
The Southport Literary Fair is completely free to enter and most of the activities are also free. Due to the expectation of a large crowd, Brynne Weaver’s signing line does require a purchase or preorder of a book from her Ruinous Love Trilogy and special registration.
