Picnic in the Park Returns to Petrifying Springs Park on Aug. 17

 Kenosha County Parks is hosting its annual Picnic in the Park celebration Saturday,

Aug. 17 at Petrifying Springs Park, County Executive Samantha Kerkman announced today.

The day will be filled with family-friendly activities including live music, interactive activities

for kids, bounce houses, food trucks and local nonprofit booths raising awareness and educating

the public, Kerkman said.

In addition, Kenosha County Parks will host food truck vendors as part of the Traveling Food

Truck Series in partnership with the Petrifying Springs Biergarten.

The festivities begin at 4 p.m., closing with fireworks at dusk. The event will be held near the

Biergarten on the south end of Petrifying Springs Park, 5555 Seventh St., Somers.

“We’re excited to bring another Picnic in the Park to the Kenosha County community,” Kerkman

said. “As always, there will be many free activities for families and high-quality entertainment

— and no charge for admission.”

Brewtown Beat, a renowned ska tribute band from Milwaukee, will kick off the event at 4 p.m.,

to be followed at 6:30 by Rafe Carlson, a fast-rising country artist from Minnesota.

Shuttle services will be provided for visitors to the Biergarten and surrounding parking areas.

Additional parking and shuttle services will be available at University of Wisconsin-Parkside

Parking Lots B and C in the Rita Lot.Picnic in the Park events schedule:

• 4 to 8:30 p.m.: Local community partner booths

• 4 to 8:30 p.m.: Kids’ games and bounce houses courtesy of Blue Sky Inflatables

• 4 to 8:30 p.m.: Concessions — Food Truck Series

• 4 to 6 p.m.: Live music — Brewtown Beat (ska)

• 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.: Live music — Rafe Carlson (country)

• Dusk: Fireworks finale
