Alex Kudrna, owner of The Orpheum Building on Sixth Avenue in Downtown Kenosha since 2016, has announced his plans to place the building up for sale. In a letter to current tenants and stakeholders, Kudrna shared:
“It is with mixed emotions that I am sharing my plans to place The Orpheum Building up for sale. As current tenants and stakeholders, it is important to me that you have accurate information directly from me in a timely fashion. You have been a large part of the success and visibility of this space in Downtown Kenosha, and for that I am grateful.
“I have owned The Orpheum Building since 2016. Since purchasing the 28,000 square foot defunct theatre, we have had several people grow their small businesses within this space. I have been able to grow my business as well, which is the real catalyst behind choosing to release the property. As many of you know, Backyard Dream Productions is the heart of my work. Video production, editing, and new technology in the film industry are my passion. Recently, I was able to open a digital studio in a larger space at another property downtown. My aim is to focus my time and talent in that studio to continue to shine a light on Kenosha.
“With completed second floor office space, a new roof in 2017, a partially rehabilitated lobby, and two street level storefronts, I am confident that someone will be eager to continue to care for and improve this property. Downtown Kenosha is a smart investment, and I intend to continue to help move things forward in whatever way I can.
“As we prepare for the sale, my intention is to work with current tenants to draw up agreements that make sense for you and your businesses. We want you to stay with us, and we want to protect you as best we can when a transition does happen. I welcome the opportunity to speak with you each individually to draft these plans.
“Thank you for being a part of my dream and the future of Downtown Kenosha.”
