Gwenifer Raymond embarked on her guitar journey at eight years old, soon after her introduction to punk and grunge music. Spending years playing in various punk bands across the Welsh valleys, she eventually shifted her focus towards the sounds of pre-war blues and Appalachian folk music, which paved the way for her exploration into the American Primitive guitar style.
Her second album, ‘Strange Lights Over Garth Mountain,’ was released at the tail end of 2020 and was met with enthusiastic acclaim. This followed the success of her debut album, ‘You Never Were Much Of A Dancer,’ which was unveiled in 2018 through Tompkins Square and received equally high praise. Raymond has garnered a fan base among enthusiasts of old-west music and those with a penchant for avant-garde/experimental sounds alike.
Her performances across the UK and Europe have solidified her position as a prominent figure in her genre, making her performances essential viewing.
