The National Weather Service issues a Flood Warning for the Fox River

The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Warning for the Fox River near New Munster

in Kenosha County from Tuesday, April 2nd until further notice. Moderate flooding of the Fox

River is forecasted to occur affecting roads and residences in the Town of Wheatland and

Village of Salem Lakes. The Kenosha County Sheriff’s Division of Emergency Management is

issuing tips for being prepared and safe during this event.

During a flood warning, you can stay informed by following local news broadcasts and your local

National Weather Service Office (https://weather.gov) for updated information. You should have

an emergency kit packed that is ready in case you need to leave your home quickly. Keep this

kit in a designated place and make sure all family members know where it is kept. Make sure to

store important documents in a safe, dry place or keep them in a watertight container. If you

travel avoid floodwaters as standing water can hide many dangers including toxins and

chemicals. Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive through flooded

areas. There may be unknown objects in the water, or the road could have collapsed.
