Wolfenbüttel, Germany Sister City Visiting Kenosha

The Sister Cities Association of Kenosha was established to foster and promote friendships and mutual understanding between the people of Kenosha and our four sister cities: Douai, France; Cosenza Italy; Quezon City, Philippines; and Wolfenbüttel, Germany.

Wolfenbüttel, Germany has been a sister city since 1970. Wolfenbüttel wrote a letter to Kenosha asking if we wanted to be their sister city and we said yes! In honor of our sister city, the City of Kenosha created Wolfenbüttel Park along the Lake Michigan shore south of downtown. It’s comprised of 8 acres and has beautiful flower gardens, a large pergola, biking and walking trails, and places to sit.

Throughout these years of exchanges between the City of Kenosha and the City of Wolfenbüttel, both cities have come to form a deeper understanding of each other and formed many lasting friendships.

There was a planned exchange with citizens of Wolfenbüttel in 2020 to celebrate the 50th Anniversary but that was delayed by the worldwide pandemic. We rescheduled the visit for August 16th, 2023, thru August 23rd, 2023. While in Kenosha, the 24 guests will stay with local host families involved with the Sister City program.

The Sister Cities Association of Kenosha and the City of Wolfenbüttel are celebrating its 53rd anniversary. A farewell/celebration dinner will be held on August 22nd, 2023, at Carthage College.
